Creative BioMart will host a webinar titled “Advanced Solutions for Membrane Protein Expression, Purification and Structural Analysis” on July 22, 2026 at 3:00 PM EDT | 9:00 PM CEST, bringing together key approaches and technologies for addressing challenges in membrane protein research.
Membrane proteins play essential roles in cellular signaling, transport, and molecular recognition, and represent a major class of drug targets. However, their hydrophobic nature and dependence on lipid environments make them difficult to express, stabilize, and analyze using conventional experimental methods. These challenges often result in low yield, instability, and loss of functional integrity during purification and downstream analysis.
During the webinar, participants will be introduced to an integrated workflow designed to improve membrane protein production and structural characterization. The session will cover multiple expression systems, including bacterial, yeast, insect, mammalian, and cell-free platforms, which allow researchers to select optimal strategies based on protein properties and experimental needs.
The presentation will also highlight purification strategies tailored specifically for membrane proteins. These include detergent-based solubilization, affinity purification techniques, and workflow optimization methods aimed at improving protein stability and recovery. Such approaches are essential for obtaining high-quality samples suitable for functional and structural studies.
A key topic of the webinar is the stabilization of membrane proteins in native-like environments. Technologies such as nanodiscs, proteoliposomes, and virus-like particles (VLPs) will be discussed as tools to preserve structural integrity outside of the cellular membrane environment, enabling more reliable biochemical and structural analysis.
In addition, the session will explore structural biology applications, including Cryo-EM and other analytical methods used to resolve membrane protein structures. Representative membrane proteins will be discussed to illustrate workflow improvements and practical research applications.
The webinar is designed to help researchers overcome common bottlenecks in membrane protein studies, including low expression efficiency, instability during purification, and difficulty maintaining functional conformations.
This session is intended for researchers in structural biology, drug discovery, protein engineering, and related fields.
